Residential Radon Testing
Single Family Homes
Radon Testing Services - Single-Family Residences
Whether it's a real estate transaction or a concerned homeowner seeking radon testing, we ensure reliable results with minimal inconvenience. Our approach involves utilizing top-quality professional equipment to deliver highly accurate results and a comprehensive report.
To conduct the test, a compact electronic radon monitor is placed in the living area of the home. In most cases, the testing period lasts between 48 to 96 hours. Once the testing period is complete, you will receive a detailed report within 24 hours. We also diligently monitor for any unusually severe weather conditions that could potentially impact the validity of the results. In the event that a repeat test is necessary, we will gladly conduct it at no additional cost. Our priority is to offer you dependable results while ensuring your convenience throughout the process.
Living with 4.0 pCi/L of radon gas is like smoking 8 cigarettes a day.
Most people receive their greatest exposure to radon in their homes. The lower the radon level in your home, the lower your family’s risk of lung cancer. The only way to determine the radon levels inside a home is to test.
Elevated radon levels have been found in all types of Florida buildings, including manufactured homes, schools, and high-rise condominiums. Elevated radon can occur in any home regardless of age or foundation type.
Radon, a radioactive gas, is a significant health hazard. This naturally occurring gas is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is responsible for more than 21,000 annual deaths. Data collected by the Florida Department of Health indicates that 1 in 5 Florida residences has elevated radon levels (above 4.0 pCi/L). In some areas of Florida, one out of two homes have excessive amounts of radon. Reducing exposure to radon is an important component in preventing lung cancer.
The World Health Organization recommends that buildings with radon levels of 2.7 pCi/L or greater be mitigated.
RTS is Located in Volusia County
For single family homes we provide residential radon measurements in Volusia County, Flagler County, Seminole County, Orange, Lake County, Brevard County, and the surrounding areas. Depending on our schedule we may be able to accommodate other areas. Just drop us a line.
Volusia County has an estimated 264,000 housing units, but only a recorded 1,050 (0.4%) residential radon tests have ever been performed. Flagler County has only 30 recorded tests out of 53,833 housing units. (based on data collected by FL Dept of Health). This data is insufficient to know the areas' radon potential or categorize the area as low, medium, or high risk.
Radon is much more likely to cause lung cancer in people who smoke. In fact, smokers are estimated to be 25 times more at risk from radon than non-smokers.
